Installed near Matauri Bay, this Micro hydro unit (mini water wheel) is running a small home. If you are lucky enough to have a 30 meter waterfall in your back yard, it can produce 300 watts of power all day and all night long. That’s enough to run a fridge and all the basics! It has a 5kw inverter, and only needs a small battery, due to the constant reliable supply of power.
